Calltime: Mental Health awareness campaign and We Can Help PSA

VANCOUVER, BC: April 27, 2018

BC’s motion picture industry unions – Teamsters 155, DGC BC, UBCP/ACTRA, IATSE 891, and ICG 669 – launch Calltime: Mental Health – a campaign of support and empowerment for workers in British Columbia’s film and television industry facing mental health and addiction challenges.

Motivated by the desire to shift the culture and reduce stigma around these issues, and to raise awareness of the resources available, the primary message of the Calltime: Mental Health campaign is We Can Help. Anchored by the newly created information hub at calltimementalhealth.com, and launched by the We Can Help PSA created by BC motion picture professionals, the goal of the campaign is to raise awareness, and to connect workers who need help with the services available to them. No calltime has ever been more important.

On the need for the campaign, the Working Group Chair, Tom Adair, said, “Our union members work together every day, and the unions are working together too. We’re coming together as a community of care, to help those with mental health and substance abuse issues in our membership. We envision a culture where everyone feels safe at work, where people are supported and empowered to ask for and offer help.”
